How to Start on Bybit EU: Sign-up, Fees, MiCA Licence and Limits
A Bybit EU guide: how it differs from global Bybit, the Austrian MiCA licence, the new unified 0.25% fee, deposits, buying, the card and what the licence does not cover.

In short: EU users register on Bybit EU, not the global Bybit. Bybit EU holds a MiCA authorisation from Austria's FMA (May 2025). Since 5 October 2026 spot trading has a unified fee: 0.25% for 30-day volume under EUR 100,000, falling to 0.15% from EUR 500,000. The licence does not cover every product, as Bybit EU itself states on its website.
Bybit EU and global Bybit
Bybit runs a separate platform for the EEA at bybit.eu, operated by a Vienna-based company that, according to a May 2025 report, received MiCA authorisation from Austria's FMA. It serves EEA users except Malta. Access on the global platform is being restricted for EEA users as Bybit aligns with MiCA.
According to available information the licence covers custody and administration of crypto-assets, exchange for funds or other crypto-assets, placing and transfer services. The Bybit EU site itself says some offerings on bybit.eu fall outside MiCAR oversight. Before using a product, check whether it is under the licence.

Security: what we know
In February 2025 Bybit lost about $1.5 billion of Ether from a cold wallet in an attack and said it covered the shortfall. The exchange also says client assets are backed 1:1. For long-term holding consider a wallet of your own, see Trezor vs Ledger.
