Bitcoin mempool and fees
How many transactions are waiting for confirmation and what it costs to send bitcoin right now.
Data as of 23/10, 23:15 UTC
The queue is short and a fast transaction costs only a fraction of a dollar. A good time to move funds to your own wallet or to consolidate small outputs.
The fee is paid for the size of the transaction, not for the amount sent, so for large amounts it is always proportionally tiny.

Frequently asked questions
What is the mempool?
It is the queue of transactions the network has accepted but that are not yet in any block. Miners take the transactions with the highest fee per byte, so the longer the queue, the higher the fees for fast confirmation.
What is sat/vB?
Satoshis per virtual byte, the unit of the fee. A typical transaction is around 140 vB, so at 5 sat/vB you pay about 700 satoshis. The fee does not depend on the amount you send.
When can I send a transaction cheaply?
When the queue is short, usually at weekends and at night European time. If you are not in a hurry, set the fee to the economy level and the transaction will confirm within a few hours.
