Frequently asked questions
What does supply in profit mean?
The share of bitcoins in circulation that last moved at a price lower than today's. Those coins are therefore in profit. It is calculated from the price at which each coin last moved, not from what someone paid for it on an exchange.
What counts as a high or low value?
When almost everything is in profit, markets tend to be at highs and selling pressure from profit-taking grows. When the share falls, a large part of holders is at a loss, which has been linked to periods of fear and capitulation. The thresholds change over time, so look mainly at the trend and the position within the range of recent years.
